It was time. The red wave started at the top and congratulations are in order to President Trump. The country certainly made it clear the Biden administration and the Democratic party failed from open borders to hyper inflation.Â
Â
Mesa County I want to thank you for your support and votes on election night. We received 58,946 votes, my neighbor Nathan Talbott asked me to verify the number. He said I believe you received more votes than any other Mesa County Commissioner candidate in recent times. To the best of our knowledge this is true. It's certainly the year of the business man and I am proud to be a part of a historic night, the greatest Republican victories of all time. The republican party took control of the Senate last night and it's looking favorable we will control the house as well. Congratulations to all of our republican candidates and the others who are currently serving in office.Â
Â
Today I start onboard orientation with Mesa County staff.Â
Â
Over the months I have spent time studying critical issues and meeting with stakeholders to define a comprehensive plan on several issues.Â
We have a critical housing shortage in Mesa County. One solution that I believe will offer assistance for potential homeowners in Mesa County Is Kindness Creates, Kindnesscreates.org. Kindness Creates is a 501c3 nonprofit formed by the Grand Junction Realtors Association to assist home buyers with closing costs up to $7500, potential home buyers must in order to qualify work with a Mesa County GJARA realtor or qualified lender. The GJARA member must submit an application on behalf of the buyer. The distribution will be in the form of a low interest loan over five years.Â
Â
As stated before we also have challenges in the field of behavioral health in Mesa County, Mesa County opened the Mesa County Health Center in October under the direction of Lisa Mills, we are seeing Mental issues trending or at least stabilizing for the better, I have mentioned before its going to take a collaborative effort between community, churches, nonprofits and Government in order to bring about positive results.Â
Â
I am a problem solver and I will bring new ideas to Mesa County!
Â
Let's not forget proven ideas of the past, Freedom, Liberty and the pursuit of happiness, Conservative family values, let's bring prayer back to the classroom and our kitchen tables.Â
Â
I am ready to go to work, and I have already taken the necessary steps to Make Mesa County Great again.Â
Â
Let's take time and reflect, pray and enjoy families and friends during this time of Thanksgiving. Remember to help those in need and deliver a meal or invite a special person to the dinner table.
Â
Godspeed,Â
Â
Mesa County Commissioner ElectÂ
